James Direct
As a mime and physical comedian, James Royce McGuire has been a featured-performer for the main show production of Faraway Places with Celebrity Cruises (S.S. Meriden), worked with The New Haven Symphony Children’s Program for A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and toured with Periwinkle Theater for Young Audiences for their show Halfway There. He was also the mime in the award winning short film, Jonathan’s Turn. He studied four years at the Goldston and Johnson School for Mimes, with Marcel Marceau and with David Shiner in New York.

As an actor, James has performed in numerous off-off-Broadway sketch comedy skits, was on scholarship with renowned acting teacher Stephen Strimpell and has received two regional theater awards. 

As a playwright James Royce McGuire’s plays have been performed with The Abingdon Theater Company, The New York International Fringe Festival 2003, The John Houseman Theater and The Actor’s Studio New Play Festival 2005 among many others. His play, The Seventh Chakra was a PlayLab selection at The Great Plains Theatre Conference. His fiction has been published in HGMLQ, Ellipsis, fictionontheweb.com, The Legendary and The Story Shack and his work is archived in the permanent collection of plays in the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Literary readings include the 92Y and KGB. He is an alumni of BMI Musical Theater Workshop and The Dramatist’s Guild. He now lives in Palm Springs, CA.
